Supporting Our Aging Population

Supporting Our Aging Population

It’s no secret we’re not getting any younger, but that’s not a bad thing. As Liberals, we know it’s important to celebrate all that our older population has to offer.

Your Liberal government wants to make sure we all continue to benefit from the contributions of our seniors. That’s why we’re committing more than $13 million over three years to Nova Scotia’s Action Plan for an Aging Population.

“We want to celebrate the contributions older Nova Scotians make every day,” said Premier Stephen McNeil. “This plan will ensure our communities benefit from their knowledge, skills and experiences.”

A Better Place for Everyone

Our aging population makes Nova Scotia a better place for everyone, including our young people.

They are the driving force between volunteer organizations, and often caregivers for others.

Our first comprehensive action plan identifies a dozen priority commitments with more than 50 actions. The plan focuses on helping our aging population stay involved and connected to their communities, promotes healthy living, and the participation of older adults in the economy.

All of these ideas and actions reflect what we heard from Nova Scotians. More than 600 people across the province provided input, including many from different backgrounds like business and health.

Shifting Our Focus

Your Liberal government is challenging all Nova Scotians to start shifting the way you think about aging. It’s time to focus on all of the opportunities older adults offer to our province.

This is what Nova Scotia’s Action Plan for an Aging Population is all about. There is so much to embrace and celebrate.
