Building Better Health Care for Nova Scotians

As Liberals, we are committed to improving access to primary health care, and making the best use of our hospitals and health care facilities across the province. We believe Nova Scotians deserve that.

We want to make sure patients across Nova Scotia are getting quality care, and that’s why we continue to announce a number of initiatives to achieve that goal.

Investing in Infrastructure

Your Liberal government is proud to announce we are moving ahead with renovations to the South Shore Regional Hospital. The renovations will include a redesign of the Emergency Department, endoscopy unit, the addition of a dialysis unit in Bridgewater, as well as the construction of a third elevator.

We will fund one-hundred per cent of the preliminary design phase for the renovations.

“Investing in infrastructure will strengthen important public services along the South Shore,” said Premier Stephen McNeil. “We are investing in the emergency department and bringing new services to the community.”

We are also proud to announce we are moving ahead with plans to replace the hospital in Pugwash, N.S.
“Building this modern facility will allow us to continue meeting the needs of the community, and surrounding communities, for years to come,” said Premier McNeil.
A final design is expected to be in place by Spring 2018, with construction slated to begin by Fall 2018.
This is an exciting time for our government and partners. We are finding the best ways to ensure Nova Scotians continue to get the quality care they want and deserve.
